Internet Telephony Technology and Standards Overview

·        Internet Telephony Services Overview - It describes the current network trends and business drivers for Internet Telephony.  It explains the Internet Telephony building blocks and design challenges.  It outlines the new network directions, which enables New World Services quite different from today's Plain Old Telephone Services (POTS).

·        What are business drivers for Internet Telephony Services?  Overview of network trends of Service Providers' networks and business drivers for Voice over IP services.

·        What is Internet Telephony Services? Detail description of VoIP services including H.323 building blocks, AAA Radius servers for authentication and accounting and call routing.

·        Building Internet Telephony Services - Highlight the VoIP network design challenge and available solutions.

·        Architecture and Service Direction - The standard-based packet infrastructure, open call control layer and open service application layer are the network infrastructure for emerging Open Packet Telephony architecture which allows rapid development of new services.

Biography


Nelson Chu is the Consulting Engineer of Cisco Systems (H.K.) Limited, responsible for Multi-Service technologies and solutions for service provider market in Hong Kong.  Nelson received an electronic engineering degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.  He has more than 8 years experience of telecommunication and internetworking in local service provider networks.
